DentiMax New Office Installation Guide

Installing and Configuring the DentiMax Suite for New Offices

Author: Cooper Small

Applies To Severity Est. Time Audience
DentiMax Server / Workstation, Document Center N/A 30-60 minutes All

Overview

This guide will walk you through installing DentiMax 24 on your server computer from start to finish. The installation involves seven steps and multiple action items within each step. Each step covers a distinct component of the DentiMax suite: DentiMax Server 18, DentiMax for Networks, Document Center, configuring your database, and allowing Server18 through your Windows Firewall, registering DentiMax, importing fixed DentiMax reports in DentiMax 24. You will be referencing the installation files provided by DentiMax Support.

Please note that the total time required may vary. You will need your serial numbers and product keys from DentiMax Practice Management Support, which our Support team can generate for you as soon as you've completed Step 6. We strongly advise calling Support at 1 (800) 704-8494 Ext. 805 to obtain your serials and keys as soon as you complete Step 5. We also strongly advise allowing Support to register the software on your behalf if at all possible, as this will save time and reduce the chance of error.

For more information, we've compiled a detailed runbook for this topic in the Procedure section below.

Before You Begin

  1. Confirm that you have received the DentiMax Suite installation files from DentiMax Support:  InstallServer18.exe, InstallDocumentCenter.exe, and install24.exe, along with any additional files/folders provided by Support.
  2. If you received a zipped folder from DentiMax Support, ensure the zipped folder has been fully extracted to a location you can easily access on the server computer (such as the Desktop or C:\). Do not run installers directly from inside a zipped archive.
  3. Ensure you are logged in to the server computer with an account that has Administrator privileges. All installation steps must be run as Administrator.
  4. If you have not yet received your serial numbers and product keys from DentiMax Support, call 1 (800) 704-8494 Ext. 805 after completing Step 6.

Additional Troubleshooting

This section is to provide a table of additional troubleshooting steps the reader can take to resolve the issue of the article, or any other common issues that may arise while working through the Procedure steps. You can include a brief paragraph at the beginning of this section (in the space of this paragraph) discussing any nuances, limitations, or reasoning for additional troubleshooting. This paragraph can be omitted, but if included, should then be followed by a table:

Symptom Resolution
DentiMax won't open on a workstation after installation  Ensure the firewall step (Step 5) was completed on the server. Verify the workstation is entering the correct server IP address in the Connect to Server dialog. Confirm both machines are on the same network.
The Connect to Server dialog shows an error

Confirm that the DMSRVR service is running on the server. Open Services on the server, locate DMSRVR, and ensure it shows as Running. If it is stopped, right-click it and select Start

If DMSRVR is not listed as a service, you likely didn't select Install as a Windows System Service in the Server18 installer. Uninstall DentiMax Server 18, and reinstall it with Install as a Windows System Service selected.

Installer prompts for administrator access  Right-click the installer executable and select Run as administrator. All DentiMax installers should be run with elevated privileges.
Serial number or key is rejected during registration

Verify that the serial and key are being entered exactly as provided by DentiMax Support, with no extra spaces. Contact Support at 1 (800) 704-8494 Ext. 805 if the issue persists.

Additionally, try clicking out of the Serial / Key field in the Registration screen. Being clicked into the serial/key field can prevent the key from performing its registration check.

Document Center does not appear in DentiMax Confirm that DocumentManager.exe was installed in the DentiMax CS file directory (likely C:\Program Files (x86)\DentiMax). If DocumentManager.exe isn't listed there, uninstall Document Center, then reinstall it in the correct directory (the installer should automatically find it if DentiMax CS is already installed).
Database does not appear in DentiMax after configuration  Re-open srvadmin.exe and verify the database entry exists under the Databases tab with the correct directory path. Ensure the path points to the correct folder inside dentimaxdata

For issues not covered by this runbook, contact DentiMax Practice Management Support at 1
(800) 704-8494 Ext. 805 or Support@DentiMax.com.
